The Marine Corps drew approximately 500 ground combat vehicles from caves in Norway for Strategic Mobility Exercise 17. The equipment, as part of the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program-Norway (MCPP-N), was drawn during the exercise to determine the amount of time required to provide the assets to a quick reaction force should the Marine Corps be called to an operation or contingency abroad. The program reduces reaction time and eliminates the need to deploy equipment from locations in the continental United States. ( Marine Corps photo by 2nd Lt. Brett Lazaroff)
