Harbour seal (Phoca vitulina) at a seal rehabilitation centre. This seal has glaucoma (a clouded lens in its eye) and cannot be released back into the wild as it would be unable to hunt for food. This seal is at the Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre (SRRC), in Pieterburen, the Netherlands. Sick, injured and orphaned seals are treated and cared for here. The centre was founded in 1971, and treats around 200 seals a year.
