Within a month itbecame cracked. It was recast, and in June, 1753,was again hung in the steeple. It remained in faithfuluse and rano- out the oreat Declaration, after which itwas used only on particular occasions. It was finallycracked on July 8, 1835, while tolling in memory ofChief-Justice Marshall, who died in this city two daysbefore. Twice only has the bell been removed from.
