Female tourist makes a scary face standing in the Mouth of Hell at the Monster Park, Parco dei Mostri, that was commissioned in 1552 by Prince Pier Francesco Orsini to express horrific grief this soldier felt about the death of his young wife when he returned from being imprisoned during war. Artist Pirro Ligorio sculpted creatures in the Garden of Bomarzo, in a “Mannerist” style, a 16th c version of Surrealism, which drew fans and inspired artists, novelists and musicians, including Salvador Dalí and Jean Cocteau. Located in the district of Lazio, north of Rome in central Italy.
