In cultivation, it is called the Fish-tail Palm, from the resemblance of the pinna3 to the tail of a flsh. A very eleo-ant species for house culture, and one that we can Mghly recommend. Fine plants, 25 and 50 cents each toy mail; $ by express. The latter are fine plants ax to 3 feet high. CHAM/EROPS. C. Canariensis (7).* A handsome fan-leaved Palm, suit- able for sub-tropical gardening; from the Canary Islands. 35 cents each. %JC. excelsa {Traclujcarpus excelsus). A quick-growing and very desirable Palm. 15 cents each. "^"'C. Fortunei (Trachyearpus Fortunei). China and Japan. Similar to preceding, but of more dwarf habit. 30 cents each. C. humilis.* Southern Europe and Northern Africa. A very hardy dwarf Fan Palm, and one that can be highly recommended either for house culture at the liforth or for open ground in the South. Through Southern France, and especially in the gardens of the Riviera, the three or four species of true Chamserops hare been extensively cultivated, and these, by cross fertilization, have produced numerous hybrids, some of which are handsome; and as they are all equally hardy vfith the parent, a collection of them is very desirable.
