View, across Jackson Hole from Jackson Lake Lodge, to Teton Range Mount Moran, Bivouac Peak and bright sun setting behind Doane Peak, Wyoming, USA
Summer sun sinking below Teton Range Doane Peak (3461 metres) from Jackson Lake Lodge, Teton County, Wyoming. Elk Mountain (3267 metres) lies to the right of the shot. Bivouac Peak (3299 metres) rises in the centre of the view. To the left stands the flat-topped Mount Moran ( 3842 metres or 12, 605 feet), which rises 1600 metres above the valley-floor of Jackson Hole. Mount Moran was named after landscape artist, Thomas Moran, who travelled north of the Teton Mountains to Yellowstone with the Hayden Expedition in 1871. His sketches and watercolours helped popularise Yellowstone as the world's first national park. To the right of Mount Moran stands Thor Peak (3386 metres). Jackson Lake occupies the valley-floor.
