Looking SE along E ramparts of Penycloddiau hillfort with the Wheeler valley to L & Moel Famau rear R. Banks & ditches enclose 21ha (52acres) making it one of the largest Iron Age hillforts in Wales. As part of a management cycle, heather & bilberry in the interior are burned periodically to ecourage fresh growth. Offa's Dyke Path national trail passes through the middle of the fort & the county boundary between Denbigh & Flint runs along its W side.
