Ruins of the underground Avaton, where patients were healed by the god Asclepius in the Epidavros archaeological site


The sanctuary of Asclepius, the god of medicine at Epidavros in the Peloponnese, in Greece, is an archaeological site where one can see the ancient ruins of the healing cult buildings. It was quite famous and prosperous in antiquity. It includes a huge theatre, a stadium, accommodation buildings and the Avaton, an underground chamber where the healing took place.
