Godstow Village, Oxfordshire, England - 23 April 2021; no people in view. The ruins of the medieval Godstow Abbey, shown here, lie adjacent to the Thames and Godstow Lock. Built in 1233 to house an order of Benedictine monks, the abbey was suppressed in 1539 under the Second Act of Dissolution. and was badly damaged in 1645 during the English Civil War. After this disaster, the building fell into disrepair and was used by locals for construction material, leaving the building in a dilapidated but atmospheric state shown here.
