But we donot see why pessaries should be wholly condemned because they have been usedinjudiciously. Physicians must acknowledge that great benefits have been de-rived from the application of the principles of mechanics to the treatment ofuterine displacements. Ever since the days of Hippocrates, pessaries of vari-ous forms have been used for supporting and elevating the uterus.
