It is beyond doubt one of the lar- gest (probably the largest) berry yet introduced; the plants are the rankest growers; away ahead of all others in this respect. In shape conical, very regular, each berry like the other; the color is a dark red crimson; the flesh is solid and dark red; the flavor is the very fin- est. It is possible to ship this berry hundreds of miles. It ripens in mid- season and continues in bearing until very late in the season. The above is from our 1895 catalogue. Now after another year, we are able to affirm what we then wrote. We fruited the Marshall quite largely last season. It gave us berries for our ewn table for 26 days. All who saw the Marshall in fruit on our grounds were of one opinion — that it ^was £the largest Marshall. farther, and best flavored strawberry they had ever seen. The writer would go and say that of the several hundred varieties he has known and is familiar with,[not one pleases him as well as the Marshall. Not until we saw it. grown* to perfection at. the Orange County Nurseries, in 1895; did we see lhe best strawberry grown, all things considered.
