It liasa cephalic curve of two inches and a quarter, measuring from theouter surfaces of the blades.* The pelvic curve is three inches andtwo lines in extent. These measurements are similar to those of thePrague instruments of Seyfert and Breisky. The blades are fenes-trated and grooved upon the inner surfaces. The advantages of an in-strument thus modeled are obvious. It is possible with its aid to seizethe head when movable above the pelvic brim. As the points ap-proach each other closely after compression of the head is completed,the instrument becomes a perfect tractor, holding the head as securelyas an ordinary forceps. Its construction is, however, virtually theabandonment of two favorite but chimerical ideas regarding the ca-pacity and mode of action of the cephalotribe, that it is capable offlattening the
