The Waterloo Monument at Peniel Heugh, near Ancrum, in the Scottish Borders
The 150 foot Waterloo Monument near Ancrum in the Scottish Borders, designed by the architect Archibald Elliot, was built between 1817 and 1824 to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo. It stands on top of Peniel Heugh, a hill between Ancrum and Nisbet.
