Endymion Porter and Anthony van Dyck. Engraving by Bernardo Rico (1825-1894) based on the painting executed around 1633 by Anton Van Dyck (1599-1641). Endymion Porter (1587-1649), Van Dyck's supporter and friend, was secretary to the Duke of Buckingham and a prestigious diplomat in the English Court. Porter is depicted wearing white satin. Van Dyck, dressed in black, depicted himself in profile and shorter, so as not to stand out over a member of the aristocracy. Detail. La Ilustración Española y Americana (The Spanish and American Illustration), February 29, 1884.
