Heads. Smiling female identical twins seen above thermograms of their heads. The thermograms show the facial heat patterns produced by blood flowing through blood vessels below the skin's surface. The patterns are unique even in these identical twins, allowing them to be accurately identified. Temperatures vary from red (hottest) through yellow, green and blue to mauve (coldest). Thermal skin imaging may be used for security access or, if used in conjunction with a police database, to identify known criminals. The infrared cameras used in such systems can work at distances of over 150 metres. These images were produced by Mikos Biotech in Virginia, USA.
