Built of white marble with a colonnade of thirty-six Doric columns, one for each Stateexisting at the time of Lincolns death, it is regarded by many as the outstanding attractionin Washington. Within the central hall is a colossal figure of the martyr-President, the workof Daniel Chester French, and on opposite walls, and separated from the central hall by arow of four Ionic columns, are two memorial tablets, one containing Lincolns Gettysburgaddress and the other his second inaugural address.
