J., emi- the homestead where he lived and died, in1827, in his eighty-fourth year. His wife,Mary, reached her eighty-seventh year. Thefamily name has different spellings, accordingto locality: Lance, Lants, Lents and Lantz,the last being probably the correct one. Jacob Lantz married and had born to himthree sons and six daughters, who lived tomaturity, namely,—George, Peter, Jacob, Mar-garet, Anna, Mary, Sophia, Eliza and ^~&/2tyfea^>*- 7- grated from the province of Alsace, Lantz was born in Germany in 1741,and settled on his Hampton farm (now knownas the Dunn farm), situated between Newtonand Washingtonville, Sussex County, N. J.,about 1759. He added other acres to hispossessions, at one time owning the present siteof Washingtonville.
