Spain, Andalusia. Espeluy-Jaén Line. Railway line inaugurated in 1881. It was originally part of the Linares-Puente Genil line, built by the "Compañia de los Ferrocarriles Andaluces" between 1879 and 1893. The section between Espeluy and Jaén was completed in 1881, long before the rest of the line, allowing the city of Jaén to be linked to the rest of the Spanish railway network. Arrival at Jaén station of the first passenger train of the new railway line, on August 18, 1881. Illustration by M. Ruiz. Engraving by Bernardo Rico. La Ilustracion Española y Americana, 1881.
