A clownfish (Amphiprion bicinctus: 6 cms.) sheltering in its host anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). Clownfish have symbiotic relationships with anemones, which they protect from predatory attack in exchange for a place of refuge. They are doughty defenders of their habitats and will sometimes even attempt to chase away approaching divers! If they feel threatened, they hide amongst the anemone's many tentacles, to the stinging nematocysts of which they are immune. Various species of clownfish are commonly encountered on coral reefs, where they feed mainly on copepods and algae. Egyptian Red Sea.
