Wye railway station was opened by the South Eastern Railway on 6 February 1846, along with the rest of the line from Ashford to Canterbury West in Kent, Southern England. . In 2021 the crossing gates over Bridge street were still manually operated by a crossing keeper. Upgrading to automatic barriers was scheduled to happen in 2022
