Benjamin Lehrfeld, Commander of Task Group and Mission Commander for Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Eleven (MSRON-11), discusses strategic pier importance with Capt. Joseph D. Harder III, Commanding Officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Europe Africa Central, during a visit to the Port of Djibouti, July 14, 2021. The purpose of the visit was to assess current projects and also discuss future projects. Camp Lemonnier is an operational installation that enables , allied and partner nation forces to be where and when they are needed to ensure security in Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. MSRON-11 is a part of Task Group , based at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The Task Group provides port and harbor security, high-value asset protection and maritime security operations in coastal waterways of the Gulf of Tadjoura. The Task Group includes the security boat squadron, MSRON-11, and EOD Platoon 8-2-1, which sweep the port for explosives as needed. Navy Expeditionary Combat Command in Norfolk, Virginia supports both units.
