This vessel has a deep-sea explorationequipment similar in many respects to thatof the U. S. Fisheries Steamship Albatross,but is a little larger, being of about seventeenhundred tons. The space devoted to scientificwork is not so large as that on board the Am-erican ship and the vessel does not carry solarge a scientific staff. The officers quartersare handsomely furnished; those of the Princebeing altogether luxurious. The scientific staff expressed special interestin the marine exhibits at the Aquarium and ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY BULLETIN 1045. Deep Sea LHIRONDELLE Exploring Ship of the Prince of Monaco were presented with numerous specimens forthe aquarium attached to the OceanographicMuseum recently established at Monaco bythe Prince. The large American horseshoecrab (Limulus) which is not found in Europeand which has the distinction of being thenearest living relative of the extinct trilobites,was of especial interest. The Director of theAquarium sent two dozen living Limulusaboard LHirondelle where Dr. Richard, theDirector of the Scientific Staff, placed themin large bath tubs filled with sea water as thesafest means of conveying them to Monaco.
