He served withLight Batter} G, in the war with Mexico, from Sept.,1847, to June, 184S, and in the Sumner Expedition onthe Plains, 1850; served with troops, Fourth Artillery andmarines, in the Anthony Burns Riot, Boston, May 17 toJune 3,1854, and with company in Florida, Bill}- BowlcgssWar, 1856-57. He resigned from Fourth Artillery , 1857, and settled at Detroit, Mich., in the practice ofthe law until May, 1 861.
