Europe Italy Piedmont Province of Turin Moncalieri Castle Moncalieri Castle, perched atop a hill in the center of Moncalieri, near Turin. Along with other Savoy residences since 1997 in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Castle was the favorite residence of Vittorio Amedeo II (1666-1732) who died there, after having abdicated in favor of his son Carlo Emanuele III, who held you prisoner with his father's second wife, the Marchioness of Spigno, after attempting the same to resume the throne.
