Before each new creation cycle, Vishnu sleeps and dreams of the coming regeneration. RIGHT: carved stone head of the bodhisattva Lokeshvara, found near the western gate of the walled city of Angkor Thom. In the late 12th century the bodhisattva Lokeshvara was particularly revered there. The expression, with closed eyes and a blissful smile, is typical of figures fromthis period of Cambodian art
