The next steps consist in joining up the cut infront by passing a roller bandage, or long strips ofstrapping round the case, and then thoroughlylarding the whole of the inside, and the outside attlie bottom for about one inch. THE FELT JACKET 45 The case is now ready to be used as a mould for solid cast. As a foundation for this a squarepiece of 1 or lA-inch plank, of a sufficient size, witha piece of broom handle fastened upright in itscentre {Fig. 10,) must be procured. Enough. This latter is then immediately slipped overthe top of the pole, and its lower edge is settledinto the plaster, care being taken that its middleline coincides with the middle of one of the sidesof the board. All that is now necessary is to mix a quantity ofplaster cream and pour it into the jacket until itis full. As soon as it is set, the case can be takenoff, and the cast is finished {Fig. 10a).
