In June, 1888, the library removed to its newhome in the Burroughs building, the alterations of which had been soskillfully planned in accordance with modern library requirements thatfour years experience has shown very little that could be changed for thebetter. In 1889, by the consolidation of town and city, and by therevision of the grand list, the income of the library was increased toabout twelve thousand dollars annually, and its field of usefulness hasbeen much enlarged. The directors have recently secured a large plotof land in the rear of the present building to provide for future BRIDGKPORT RUbl-lC LIBRARY.
