Designed by Bishop Jean Baptiste Lamy, Cathedral Church of San Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe was built in 1895. Under the direction of French architect Antoine Mouly , the church was built around an existing, smaller church, used as a support. The inner structure, an old adobe church, was later dismantled and the bricks reused in other buildings in town.
