Moreover,complaints from the pulpit will notcorrect the situation. Some brancheshave ushers hand cards to latecomersrequesting them to come early nextSunday. Whatever the method, it mustbe diplomatic and tactful. Startingstrictly on time is a good way to re-duce tardiness. Having ushers and acertain seating area close to the door,more or less reserved, for the late-comers will tend to insure an un-broken, reverent and truely spiritual. atmosphere. Of course, enough empha-sis cannot be placed on the promptstarting of the meetings at the ap-pointed time. You who are in thesuperintendency: The eyes of thosewho follow are upon you and yourability to lead as you exercise thefirst active assignment of the day, thestarting of the meeting. They canvery easily figure, Well, if my super-intendent doesnt care when we getstarted then why should I care. In some of the larger SundaySchools the accumulation of announce-ments will often be quite large. If notgiven correctly these announcementscan detract from the meeting almostas well as tardiness. Announcementsthat are given merely from the mem-ory of the conductor often result asrepetitions. Along with that usuallycomes much stalling and groping formodifying words. This brings about arestless air which tends to create dis-order in the congregation. Announce-ments should be written down andread once, slowly and clearly. Thetime when these announcements are tobe given is
