Blood clot in the arm. Coloured angiogram of a blot clot (thrombus) that has occurred in an arm vein of a 22 year old patient on kidney dialysis. Sometimes when on dialysis, blood clots can form in the vein being accessed (most often the cephalic vein) and cause mild pain. Unlike blood clots in the leg, however, cephalic vein blood clots do not migrate. They generally resolve on their own and do not require any specific medication. In this case a catheter can be seen at left. Angiograms use a contrast dye to highlight blood vessels.
