Etienne Clavière (1735-1793). French banker and businessman of Swiss origin, born in Geneva. He was active in politics during the French Revolution. Minister of Finance of France (24 March to 12 June 1792 and from 10 August 1792 to 2 June 1793). He was one of the founding members and the first president of the "Société des amis des Noirs" (Society of the Friends of the Blacks) and of the "Club des Jacobins" (Jacobin Club). Portrait.
