Marble memorial art in Saint Thomas Cathedral Mumbai selected for UNESCO Asia-Pacific heritage conservation award 2004 India.


Monument in memory of crew of East India Company frigate Cleopatra which floundered off the coast of Malabar in 1817 erected in Saint Thomas Cathedral the first Anglican church to be built in Mumbai. Since its inauguration in1718 it was the only landmark in the Bombay Presidency for over a 100 years. Its interior depicts the history of the British India Era from middle 18th century. One of the most articulate Victorian Gothic interiors with a rich repository of Victorian art in terms of carved marble monuments, sculpture, stained glass.
