Armenian church in Shusha Nagorno Karabakh. Shusha is the Armenian name for the town. The Azerbaijani population who used to live their and claim it is their land call the town Shushi. Disputed between Armenia and Azerbaijan after both countries became independent in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed, Nagorno-Karabakh is claimed for historical reasons.
