Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery on the Belgium Salient the second largest WWI cemetery with over 10,000 burials
During the First World War Lijssenthoek was a casually clearing station having 11000 burials including Australian Victoria Cross holder Major FH Subbs and Staff nurse Nelli Spindler who was killed during the Passchendaele Offensive and the only women to be buried with 10,000 men. Up to the establishing of Tyne Cot, Lijssenthoek was the largest military cemetery
