Hoylake, The Wirral, UK. Uk Weather. 21st December, 2016. Strong Blustery winds on the west coast as the flags of the driftwood Pirate ships signal the onset of storm Barbara. Storm Barbara is predicted for the early hours of Saturday morning, set to batter parts of UK and disrupt Christmas travel. Credit: MediaWorldImages/Alamy Live News
Made from driftwood, and branches and fallen trees from the nearby Arrow Park, the artwork is named after Grace Darling who aged 22 rowed out in a storm with her father to help survivors of the SS Forfarshire, wrecked off the Farne Islands. Her role in the rescue, on 7 September 1838, was picked up by the press, and she became a national celebrity.
