Fieseler Fi 103R Reichenberg piloted V1 flying bomb preserved at La Coupole, France
La Coupole, also known as the Coupole d'Helfaut-Wizernes,is a World War II bunker complex in the Pas-de-Calais, France. It was built by the forces of Nazi Germany between 1943 and 1944 to serve as a launch base for V-2 rockets aimed at Britain, and is the earliest known precursor to modern underground missile silos still in existence. Damaged by heavy bombing, it never entered service. It remained derelict until the mid-1990s. In 1997 it was opened as a museum. Exhibits tell the story of the German occupation of France during World War II, the V-weapons and the history of space exploration.
