( x x cm), Copper, iron, pigment, United States, 19th century, This handmade weathervane perched proudly atop a barn in Red Hook, New York, until it was sold in the 1970s. It is made of pieces cut from sheet copper, riveted and wired together. The original surface was later painted, resulting in the crackling you see today
