Lizardfish with prey. Blackblotch lizardfish (Synodus jaculum) with a pufferfish in its mouth. Lizardfish are lie-in-wait predators. They lie camouflaged on the sea bed and swallow any passing prey whole in a sudden leap. This lizardfish is found in the tropical Indo-Pacific and can grow up to 20 centimetres in length.
