Business has improved considerably in this section during the last two weeks and we are looking forward to a busy winter. This district is receiv- ing a large share of the munition work and high wages are being paid the worker. The growers, though, are hard hit, as it is almost impossible to hire common laborers. It is a question whether or not the florists will be greatly benefited by the munition boom, as the necessities of life are so high in price that they leave the people but a small surplus to spend on flowers. Then again, the increased cost of do- ing business cuts the florists' profits al- most in two. For instance, errand boys whom we formerly paid $4 or $5 per week now demand $8 and up per week. GEO.
