Iya River gorge in the fall with the Kazurabashi (vine) Suspension Bridge, Shikoku Island, Japan. Although vine suspension bridges used to be common in Japan (perhaps because they were easily chopped down if you were being pursued) they are rare nowadays. This used to be the only way to cross the Iya River. Rebuilt every three years, this bridge is designated as a national important folkloric property and is one of Japan's three rare bridge, in the mountains of Shikoku Island, is a popular Sunday outing for the local people of Tokushima, Japan, especially when the leaves are starting to turn. Several roadside stands selling BBQ food are in the vicinity.
