Juno Beach, Courseulles sur Mer, Normandy France. August 2017 On the 6th of June 1944 Allied forces, mainly British, French and Canadian troops came ashore here as part of the Invasion of Europe leading to the end of the Second World war in 1945. Leader of the Free French Government in exile in London General Charles De Gaulle landed here on 14 June and proceded to Bayeux where he set up his provisional Government. A Lorraine cross, the Cross of Lorraine,is erected at the spot where de Gaulle landed.
