He longedfor a return to his friends and his home. In the strong hopethat he would be soon able to do so, he refrained from in-forming them of his sickness; and his wife knew not of it untilshe received the news of his death, which occurred Aug. 19,1864.* His emaciated remains were brought home, and interred inthe cemetery at Natick. * The disease of which he died was chronic diarrhoea.
