William Mulliken5 (1), second son of Samuel4 (1), b. in Newburyport, Mass.,Sept. 17, 1785; m. Submit Sanderson of Hollis, N. H., and lived in Lynn,Mass., where he d. of paralysis July 1, 1869, aged 84 years, 10 months, and 17days. He was a seaman and engaged in whaling. His wife d. in Lynn, Mass.,in 1867. They were communicants of the Orthodox church. Two children,named as follows: 1. Esther Sanderson Mulliken, b. in Lynn, Mass., Nov. 30, 1820;m. Mar. 4, 1849, to Warren C. Philbrick of Lowell, Mass., a carpen-ter by trade, who d. Jan. 20, 1897, aged 69 years. She is now (1904)living with her daughter, Mrs. Pascal A. Horton, in Lynn, Mass., suffer-ing from paralysis. She had three children, named as follows: (1) William Warren Philbrick, b. June 29, 1850. Single. (2) Susan Isabel Philbrick, b. Apr. 16,1853; m. Waldo E. Taylor. (3) Josephine Gilbert Philbrick, b. Nov. 8, 1858; m. at Lynn, Mass.,Dec. 25, 1879, to Pascal A. CHARLES H. MULLIKEN MULLIKENS OF BRADFORD, MASS. 223 n. William Mulliken0, b. in Lynn, Mass., in 1822; d. at sea when 21 yearsof age. 3. Sarah Mulliken0 (1), daughter of Samuel4 (1), b. May 31, 1787; d. single. 4- George Mulliken5 (1), son of Samuel4 (1), b. Feb. 5, 1790; d. young. 5. John Mulliken5 (3), son of Samuel4 (1), b. May 10, 1792, removed to Hallo-well, Me., when a young man, and there m. between Mar. 25th and Apr., 1824,Elizabeth Smart, who d. in i860, aged 50 years. The family settled inAugusta, Me., in 1845, and Mr. Mulliken was a director in the Freemans Na-tional Bank there for
