. 6 Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment Captain Westcott Brown, a poet, was reported wounded and missing, aged 23, on 16 July 1916 during the Battle of the Somme. He is recorded as having gone out with a sergeant to reconnoitre. The sergeant was subsequently found dead but Captain Westcott Brown was not found. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
