For goslings attwenty-four hours old, little rolls of dough,sometimes mixed with raw or boiled eggs, putdown their throats, form the most suitable about two or three days old they will beable to eat meal, or whole corn, which is betterwhen soaked. As with all goslings, care mustbe taken to avoid damp, or very hot sun, wherethey cannot get shade. Where there are ten ortwelve goslings together, they can be left withouta hen at a week old, but where there are onlytwo or three, the hen should have charge ofthem for two or three weeks. Grown-up birds hardly ever ail anything,but if they do become ill they rarely are sometimes seen to droop, theirfeathers looking draggled and damp. This stateof health is caused by cold clay soil, and achange at once on to dry gravel soil, as a rule,sets them right again. There is probably awant of oily secretions to supply the some this appearance is said to be causedby an irritating insect on the birds. Dilutedparaffin is said to be a cure. The defect of atwisted or hanging wing in Embdens can some-times be remedied by tying the wing into theright position. Owing to their white plumage,though not absolutely a necessity to Embdengeese, a pond is an advantage; and essentialwith show birds. Embdens can sleep out atnight (where there is no fear of foxes) evenin the severest
