Late 19th Century view of Fort Regent on the top of Mont de la Ville,towering above the harbour of Saint Helier, on Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, Crown dependencies, in the English Channel. The construction of the present fortress began on 7 November 1806, during the Napoleonic Wars. The fort was built using local workers and men from the Royal Engineers, which enabled it to be completed in 1814.
