Nicolas Remene / Le Pictorium - Fishing and suffocation of the Niger River in Bamako, Mali - 13/6/2021 - Mali / Bamako District / Bamako - Nourou Koumare pulls up the nets he set the day before in the middle of the Niger River on Sunday 13 June 2021. In the nets, that morning, he brought up more plastic than fish. The catch was meagre, barely three small fish in an entire net. Nourou, 17 years old, started fishing with his father at the age of 12. He lives in the Bozo-quartier in Badalabougou on the right bank of the capital, Bamako.
