Impetigo lesions on the leg of a 20 year old male patient. Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection caused by Staphylococcus species. It starts with red sores or blisters that contain fluid filled with bacteria. The sores often burst and leave crusty golden-brown patches. The infection is highly contagious and spreads to other parts of the body or other people through skin-to-skin contact. This case occurred following a rugby match. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs.
