Osage riter^ rises in the range of hills, which separates thewaters of the Kansas from those of the Arkansas, near the junc-tion of the Sinoakv Hill fork with the former. Its course, whichis, however, veiy devious, is generally a little north of east, andit empties into the Missouri, about 130 miles abovfc its consideialile number of tributaries empty into it from theliorth and south, the principal of which are Little Osage, GrandRiver, Yungar or Meungar, Cooks, and Vermilion rivers.
