Anomala merula, sp. nov. Entirely black above and beneath, and \ery smooth and shining. It is elongate in shape, broad at the shoulders and attenuated at each end. The head is finelv and closely punctured, with the ciypeu* broadly transverse, straigiit in front and rounded at the sides. The pronotum is narrow, little wider than it is long, broadest at the base, which is rather evenly rounded and uot margined, and tapering to the front, which is verv narrow; the sides are strongly curved, snbangulate in the middle, with all the angles sharp and nearly right angles ; the surface is very minutely and incon- spicuously punctured, except at the sides.
